After 10 years training marine mammals, Shawna shifted to equines in 1994, when R+ was relatively unknown to the horse world. She began with John and Beezie Madden (Olympic Gold Medalist/Show Jumping), and often says that was her lab time as she discovered how to apply the positive, science based training principles to traditionally trained horses. She went on to work with international level Dressage, Jumping, Eventing and Driving competitors. Shawna’s passion is to help create emotionally happy and balanced animals, and she continues to teach through clinics, expos, accredited courses for zookeepers, and various universities.
