Lauren Fraser

Lauren is an experienced horsewoman, who has worked professionally with horses since 2006. Prior to her current specialization as a clinical animal behaviourist, Lauren taught riding and horsemanship, and trained horses.

Lauren obtained an MSc in Clinical Animal Behaviour through the University of Edinburgh’s Royal Dick School of Veterinary Studies, and she has an Equine Science Certificate from the University of Guelph. Lauren’s MSc research was on the behaviours of horses subjected to forced ‘laying down’ during training. Lauren is a Certified Horse Behaviour Consultant (CHBC) with the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants (IAABC) and the IAABC’s Horse Division Chair and a member of the application review committee. She is also a practitioner member of the International Society of Equitation Science (ISES).

In addition to helping horse owners solve behaviour problems, Lauren teaches a wide range of horse behaviour and training events – from monthly workshops for horse owners, to guest lecturing at universities on horse behaviour, to co-teaching an online RACE-approved course for veterinarians on resolving fear-based behaviours in horses.

Lauren’s horse training interests are eclectic and include cooperative care, colt starting, and training horses to indicate their itchy bits that need human scratches.
